Announcing the 2014 SAFS Annual Training Seminar and Business Meeting to be held at the historic DeSoto Hilton in downtown Savannah on September 23-26, 2014.  This year's meeting is a bit shorter and more compact than most but we have filled it with informative  workshops and activities designed for specialized training, networking and of course fun.  We will be holding a variety of workshops covering multiple disciplines and general topics including Emerging Drugs and Databases for Drug Chemists, DNA Mixture Interpretation and Ethics in Forensic Science. We are pleased to offer sitting for the ABC examination, a tour of Daniel Defense, a poster session and discipline specific breakout sessions where dessert will be served!

It is also the twentieth anniversary of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil known in these parts simply as "The Book" which brought an even brighter national spotlight to the Hostess City of the South, especially after the movie directed by Clint Eastwood was released. We will be highlighting this sensational case throughout the meeting with walking tours and speakers who played integral parts in this story.

Our meeting will conclude with Dinner on the Square low country boil served in historic Lafayette Square with views of the nearby Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  Rooms at the DeSoto Hilton will be $139 + tax and are available three days pre and post meeting, so mark your calendars and join us for some great Southern hospitality in the heart of historic Savannah.

UPDATE:  We are starting to fill up at the DeSoto Hilton.  Wehave contracted with the Hampton Inn and Suites for overflow rooms if necessary.  The rate they have offered us  is Sunday - Thursday $119 and Friday-Saturday $149.  It is located 0.6 miles from the meeting hotel and while they do not offer a shuttle service, the city has DOT buses that run nearby.  If you have any questions please let the meeting team know.  You can make your reservations for the Hampton Inn HERE.
